Episode 224 – Coffee N°5 – The Heart of Your Business: Why Every Strategy Starts with Your Website with Lara Schmoisman

Your website isn’t a brochure—it’s your business engine. In this solo episode of Coffee Nº5, I talk about why your site’s performance defines everything else: your ads, your SEO, your visibility, even your AI ranking. We cover the hidden cost of slow load times, plugin overload, and the myth that agencies are always more expensive. Spoiler: the right tech stack and the right partners don’t cost you more—they save you time, money, and momentum.

We’ll talk about:

  • Your website is your brand’s heart—every transaction and touchpoint starts there.
  • How a slow or poorly optimized website kills your paid ads, organic reach, and SEO.
  • The hidden costs of “plugin overload”—and how to streamline for speed and stability.
  • The myth of agency pricing: how the right team actually saves you money by doing it right the first time.
  • Why your website strategy is a business decision, not just a marketing one.

Hi, welcome back to Coffee No. 5. And today for you, I have another mini episode and I hope you enjoy this one. So today let’s talk about your website. Your website is your heart, it’s your core. All the transactions, everything that will happen will happen in your website or through your website. Even if your website is connected to TikTok shop or to any other vendor, it’s gonna happen through your website.

So what happened when your website doesn’t perform well? That’s one of the biggest issues I see with people that come to you. First is like, let’s analyze your website. Is your website performing well? If your website is not performing well, your ads is not going to perform well, your organic search, and even it will affect your, ⁓ of course, your searchability, your visibility. Let’s not even talk about AI that…

I read my last ⁓ newsletter, I explain all about that, and SEO, but also it will ⁓ affect your social media. Because now everything is interconnected. Social media needs keywords. It’s all about searchability. Haven’t you noticed that people are not using as many hashtags? Well, it’s because everything is a keyword. Everything is about to be searchable. So that’s one of the things that is important.

Another thing that I noticed a lot is that people are spending or companies are spending a lot of money in paid media, which I’m not saying that it’s wrong, it’s the right way to do it, but also you need to spend the right time and money on organic because paid media will not help the AI search engines.

So you need to make sure that you really spend money in organic search and is done correctly. Another day we’ll talk more about keywords and why to use it. But today I want to talk to you about something else that it’s called the tech stack. One of the things that I always do when I get a new client is analyze their tech stack. A tech stack, what I also notice as, I mean,

Of course you want to have all these capabilities on your website but your tech tag can really affect your performance. Your performance, ⁓ your website speed, loadings, you can have a lot of issues because you put too many plugins. It’s so easy to put plugins nowadays and also it’s so easy to, if you start realizing how much you’re paying in plugins, sometimes it can be a little fortunate.

So we need to analyze where your company is at, what is the level and what plugins are really needed for your website to operate well. And then analyze, maybe you’re not using the right plugins. I’ve seen this too many times that you pick a company’s use or websites use like 10 plugins that they do the same thing and they use one.

for different, each one of them for different things. So that’s why it’s important. know plugins are very tempting for you to buy it. You said that’s why it’s really important to work with someone that really understand each capability of the plugins and see how you can minimize them. It’s not about how you spend or the money you spend because it can be $2, $5, but it’s not about the money. Having too many plugins, will affect the performance of your website.

Let’s talk about something else now about performance and websites. We need to make sure that, and I want, this is a myth, that working with agencies will be more expensive for you. No, if you work with agencies, first of all, agencies can save you a lot of money just for doing the work right, and that many other people, want to add. Also, if you work with the right agency, the right agency,

will be working with you as a cohesive strategy and not just doing one side of your business. Like for example, if you’re ads but you are not integrating that with organic search and there is no same strategies like speaking two different languages. The same with social media. But with that said also, if you work with the right partners, they’re gonna give you discounts but working on different partners.

because they will have the right partners for you and they have benefits that they can pass to you. Also, they will understand ⁓ at what stage of your journey you are as a brand and they will make recommendations of what are the best plugins or apps for you to use at that time. So this is not only…

A marketing strategy is also a business decision that you need to make and understand where you are at this stage of your journey. You don’t need absolutely all the whistles at the beginning. What you need is to attract people to your website. You can always add, there’s always time to add, but…

If you don’t have anyone coming to the website or you don’t have sales, why are you going to be spending all this money and having absolutely everything? The most beautiful website in the world, which by the way, by the time you put it live, it will be outdated already because there are always websites evolving and you need to maintain. Oh, that’s another one. So super important. As important as SEO, it’s

extremely important to have website maintenance because there’s something that people don’t talk about which everyone believes that SEO is about keywords. SEO is also about technical so we need to make sure that your website is performing right in order for you to be successful. Okay I hope this six minutes podcast was helpful for you and I will see you next week with more coffee number five.
